Abbey Clancy reveals husband Peter Crouch bought her the same coat three times and a charging cable

Abbey Clancy has revealed her husband Peter Crouch is the worst present giver, after gifting her with the same coat three times.

Speaking to MailOnline, the model, 35, confessed that the former footballer, 40, is ‘useless’ at choosing presents for her for Christmas.

She confessed: ‘He’s useless. He always seems to get it wrong. He bought me the same Burberry mac for like three years in a row.’

When asked what the worst present she ever received, she easily answered: ‘A three metre long phone charger from Peter as a present.

Explaining, she said: ‘He’s quite logical with his presents, because the plug is on his side of the bed. It’s become a running joke with my friends and family, so he bought me a charger so I could sit in bed and charge my phone.

‘It turned out it was a good present in the end but when I first opened it I was like “what is this?”‘

Wisely, speaking before last Christmas Abbey said the couple had decided to go forego presents, and buy each other experiences instead.

She said: ‘We’ve decided we’re going to do an experience together, instead, like a nice meal or weekend away together.

It comes as Abbey has been working with McDonald’s to support the launch of their first ever net zero carbon restaurant in Market Drayton, Shropshire.

Whilst it may look like a normal McDonald’s – the way it has been built and how it’s run – means it eliminates as much carbon from the atmospheres as it produces.

It does this through a whole range of sustainable design features – from solar panels and wind turbines, to kerbs made from recycled plastic bottles and even wall art made from recycled coffee cups.

Abbey says she was inspired to get involved by her children, Sophia, 10, Liberty, five, Jonny, three, and Jack, one.

‘You know the kids are kind of educating me and I feel like it’s my duty as a parent to help in some way to make the planet more sustainable even if it’s only the smallest of things. So when this opportunity came a long, I thought it’s a great example and wanted to get involved.

‘It’s the kids that are really paving the way. They seem to really care about the planet.

‘My daughter was like you can’t use plastic straws you’ll hurt the turtles. They’re getting that information for somewhere and they’re more conscious of it.’

Speaking on her own efforts to do better for the environment, she said: ‘We’ve made a step towards using eco-friendly products in the house.

‘I do pass down a lot of clothes between the girls and the boys as they’re only a year apart to try and curb fast fashion.

‘Less waste, buying meals daily, we tried to start a vegetable garden but that failed. I just think it’s the little things that add up to make a huge difference.’

As the Omicron variant continues to progress, the conversation turns towards a possible lockdown, but there’s a silver lining for Abbey.

She admits: ‘To be honest, I actually love the lockdown, because we’re both so busy and I think it’s so rare we can actually just stop and be together and we go on walks, play games, make meals together.

‘Don’t get me wrong there were tough time as well with homeschooling, where they were like “You’re not my teacher!”’.

She went on: ‘We’re quite lucky and I know lots of people have had it quite difficult who have been on their own and been isolated without constant from their family but for me personally I loved having that time with my children and I’ll always remember it.’

She’s keen to stay positive for the sake of her children, saying: ‘I think sometimes we forget to think about the impact all this talk has on the children. They might be feeling scared or vulnerable.

‘They get scared thinking am I going to die, hearing all these horror stories. We make a conscious effort to keep their lives as normal as possible.’
