She is set to make history as the world’s first bisexual lead of The Bachelorette.
And ahead of next Wednesday’s season premiere, Brooke Blurton has revealed why she was hesitant to return to the Channel 10 dating franchise.
‘I was scared,’ Brooke, 26, told TV Week on Monday.
Taking a chance: Brooke Blurton, 26, has revealed why she was ‘petrified’ to become the first bisexual and Indigenous Bachelorette ahead of next week’s season premiere
‘The last two times, I didn’t come out of this how I would have liked to,’ she said, referring to her previous stints on The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise.
Brooke explained: ‘Being the Bachelorette, I thought, “This is my chance to actually define who I want in a person.”‘
And while she admitted to being ‘petrified’ of handing out the roses rather than accepting them, she said she was beyond thankful to have been offered the role.
Fears: Speaking to TV Week on Monday, Brooke admitted she was ‘scared’ to return to the dating show. ‘The last two times, I didn’t come out of this how I would have liked to,’ she said. Pictured with Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins on the 2018 season of The Bachelor
It’s third time lucky for the youth worker, who previously failed to find love on Nick Cummins’ season of The Bachelor in 2018 and 2019’s Bachelor in Paradise.
Brooke excitedly confirmed she had indeed found love on The Bachelorette.
‘Oh, yes. Yeah, I have, absolutely. I’m really, really lucky, and I’m really excited about the show airing and about my relationship,’ she told Stellar on Sunday.
Opportunity: Brooke said that after failing to find love on TV twice, The Bachelorette was her chance to define who she wants in a person. Pictured with a female contestant
‘I’m honestly counting down the days [until the show airs]. I just want to be able to share with my family and friends about how happy I really am,’ she said.
Brooke’s season marks two milestone because she is both the first Indigenous and bisexual Bachelorette, with both men and women vying for her affection.
The Bachelorette premieres Wednesday, October 20, at 7.30pm on Channel 10
