Channel Nine newsreader Deborah Knight has revealed her son has received his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

She shared a photo to Instagram on Wednesday of Darcy getting his first Pfizer jab, after vaccine bookings were made available for children aged 12 to 15 this week.

Her 12-year-old son rolled up his sleeve and appeared to smile under his face mask as a healthcare worker gave him the shot.

‘Mr Darcy first dose down,’ the journalist, 48, proudly wrote in the caption, adding the hashtag #GetVaccinated. 

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) recommended children 12 years of age and above get the Pfizer vaccine from September 13.

This comes after she revealed her five-year-old daughter Audrey was classified as a close COVID-19 contact after a positive case was identified at her school, according to Nine Honey.

Last month, Deborah isolated with little one in the granny flat of their home and hosted her drive time radio show on 2GB from there.

‘A five-year-old can’t isolate on her own, a grown-up’s got to do it with her,’ she told her listeners, adding that her husband Lindsay was with older children Darcy and Elsa, 10, in another part of their home.   

The family of have have tested negative twice and have since returned to sharing their home together, as seen in Deborah’s recent Instagram posts.

Back in June, Deborah revealed she was fully vaccinated herself and spoke highly of her experience at the Homebush vaccination hub.

She wrote in the caption: ‘Fully vaxx’d – so I won’t get fully sick!! 

‘Just had my second #pfizer dose and again a super smooth experience at Sydney Olympic Park.’
