Some residents of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, have protested against the refusal of the Department of State Service (DSS) to allocate lands to some of the subscribers of the DSS housing estate.

The subscribers alleged that the DSS sold the lands to over 100 people but refused to allocate to them two years after they paid.

DAILY POST gathered that the estate christened, Department of State Security Service Community Multipurpose Cooperative Society Housing Estate is located at Ile Titun area of Ibadan.

It was gathered that the DSS sold the lands to the subscribers through its DSS corporative society.

Our correspondent however gathered that the DSS has refused to allocate the lands to over 100 people who bought them.

Some of those who spoke during the protest held at the entrance gate of the housing estate appealed to the DSS Director to intervene.

They also called on the governor of the state, Engineer Seyi Makinde and President Muhammadu Buhari to compel the DSS to ensure that justice prevails.

Spokesman of the group, Engineer Bolaji Olayemi Silva who addressed journalists during the protest, noted that those who bought the lands made enquiries about the estate from the DSS office and were told that the lands are genuine.

He however regretted that the DSS failed to allocate the lands two years after they had collected money from them.

Silva said, “We are protesting, peaceful protest on the lands we bought two years ago from DSS. We bought these lands over two years ago. We made our enquiries, we asked questions.

“We went to their offices before we paid. But, as of today, we have not been given our lands. The lands have not been allocated to us.

“We have been to their offices, we have gone to Ibadan office and Abuja office. We have written letters to them to give us our lands.

“We are asking Nigerians to help us to talk to them. One of the trusted agencies is DSS. But, it is another thing we are experiencing.

“We want our governor, Seyi Makinde to intervene, we want the DSS Director in Abuja to intervene. What we want is our lands”.

However, all efforts made by DAILY POST to get a reaction from the DSS, Oyo State Command at its office in the Aleshinloye area of Ibadan proved to be abortive.

A source however told our correspondent that the matter would be best resolved by the Abuja command.
