And Line Of Duty star Martin Compston couldn’t contain his elation after he watched Scotland storm to victory over Israel in a thrilling World Cup qualifier.

The actor, 37, took to Twitter to share a video cheering from the stands at Hampden Park in Glasgow on Saturday, branding the game the ‘best ever.’

The clip showed Martin cheering with joy alongside supporters at the stadium after seeing Scotland seal a 3-2 victory in the dying minutes.

He captioned the post: ‘Been to a few Scotland games in my time, in terms of pure entertainment and exhilaration that was the best ever. We’ll be coming Raising handsFlag of Scotland @ScotlandNT @HampdenPark.’

The win also keeps Scotland’s hopes of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup alive, as they battle for a spot in the play-offs.

Martin recently hit the headlines at last month’s NTA’s, when he seemingly refusing to applaud Joan Collins walking out to Celtic’s bitter rivals Rangers anthem. 

According to the Daily Record the actor looked on as Dame Joan Collins was a special guest at the prestigious awards ceremony.

The Iconic actress, famed for playing Alexis Colby in the 80’s American TV series Dynasty, was invited as a special guest to present the award for Best Serial Drama.

The Stud actress came onto the stage to Tina Turner’s classic track Simply the Best, which is the anthem that is played at the Ibrox stadium when Rangers walk out onto the pitch.

While fans and critics alike went on to slam the actors decision not to applaud.  

One puzzled viewer wrote: ‘@martin_compston how come you didn’t stand for Joan Collins? That’s a bit disrespectful is it not.

Another wrote: ‘@martin_compston Just saw the Joan Collins entrance clip on TV this morning. Wonder why you didn’t get up…’

Even ITV host and fellow scot Lorraine Kelly admitted on her show she was baffled by the move.  

Dame Joan quickly dismissed any hint of outrage of disrespect. 

Taking to her social media she suggested the choice of Rangers fan favourite song Simply the Best might have been the reason why Hoops-daft Martin stayed in his seat.
