Nollywood actors like Iyabo Ojo, Alesh Sanni, Funke Etti and others have reacted to the untimely death of one of the students of popular Lagos school, Chrisland International High School.

Whitney Adeniran, a student of Chrisland, Opebi, had died during the school’s inter-house sports in Lagos.

According to the 12-year-old girl’s father, Dr. Michael Adeyemi Adeniran, the child died at Agege Stadium on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

He said the child had no health condition or sickness as of the time the school bus picked her up for the event.

In a Facebook post where he was seeking justice and explanation, he wrote:

“To the biggest shock of my life by 1 pm in the afternoon, I got a call from my wife that she was informed that our daughter slumped at the inter-house sport and she was rushed to the clinic….. My wife was at the venue even before the event started. She was never informed or called until they have conveyed our child out of the venue before they informed her.

“On arrival of my wife at the health center where they took my daughter, my daughter was lying dead with her lips black and her tongue black.

“My wife called me urgently, I left my office to the place and found my 12-year-old daughter lying dead on the ground. I asked questions about what happened to my daughter and the school authority could not get me any information as to what happened to my child in their care.

“I gave Chrisland school a healthy vibrant young girl what Chrisland returned to me is a dead child. My entire family is in deep sorrow but the school Authority claimed they know nothing about my daughter’s death and all they know is that my daughter slumped and died.”

Despite the school’s claim, Instagram blogger, Gistlover alleged that at the stadium where the Interhouse sports was held, Whitney wanted to purchase popcorn and candy from one of the vendors at the event.

The blog claimed that she got electrocuted through one of the machines and passed out. They had to rush her to the back of the stadium and poured water on her.

The blog claimed when she wasn’t responding, they took her to the health centre but at that time, she already passed away.

According to the blog, the report was given by the kids who were present at the time.

Following the new report, Iyabo Ojo called out the school for their audacity to be irresponsible.

She told them to tell the truth about her death as the negligence from their school is appalling.

Iyabo questioned if the news making rounds that she died from electrocution is true and why the vendors at their event didn’t come with child proof equipment. Iyabo Ojo wrote:

“@chrislandinsta You need to come out & tell Whitney’s parents the truth about their daughter’s death. The negligence from your school is appalling. There is a WhatsApp audio circulating that she died as a result of electrocution. Can you confirm or deny? Did you not get the vendors at your event to make sure they came with child proof equipment? You knew the child was dead before sending her to a health centre and sent the mother on a wild goose chase to look for her child without accompanying her. The actual audacity to be irresponsible.”

Also reacting in the comment section of a blog, actors Alesh Sanni, Funke Etti, Folorunsho Adeola, Sandra Ikeji, Bose Aregbesola and others mourned the deceased.
