The Mining Entrepreneurship Stakeholders have implored the Federal Government to hasten the payment of compensation for taking over a business premise at Karshi, Abuja.
Making this appeal on Monday, the Chairman of the Mining Stakeholders, Aminu Sani Inuwa, disclosed that the expanse of land in question is a business premise inhabited by a quarry company but was taken over by the Federal Government for the construction of an ultra-modern Correctional Service facility.
He said the quarry, which poses a 0.8 kilometre square property, is one of the best when it comes to its “modern technological and computerised sophistication”.
Inuwa noted the quarry can produce 2,500 tons of granite, boulders and dust.
He said the Federal Government took over the property after a month of quarry operations.
He said, “We appeal for the Federal Government’s quick action on the demand for compensation over the takeover of our land and business premises for the ongoing construction of a correctional facility at Karshi, a border community between the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State.
“This particular land and business premises is actually a quarry company operated by Mini Corporation Ltd., for which some of our members have stakes, many others run businesses of supplies and transportation.”
