Afrobeats Superstar David Adeleke who is widely known as Davido has sparked conversations on social media after tagging Grammy Award-winning singer Burna Boy, as a new generation artiste.
The DMW Boss during an interview stated that he and Wizkid were were one of the first successful pioneers in the entertainment industry before the birth of the ‘new cats.’
Davido averred that Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, Mayorkun are set of new cats who are doing incredibly well in the industry.
His words;
“Everybody knows that I was one of the first, me and Wizkid to blow up. It feels good also seeing that the news cats coming up; like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Rema, Asake, and Mayorkun,”
The OBO Crooner while acknowledging Mayorkun and Asake, reflected on their performances in his latest album, ‘Timeless‘ which has bagged a number of certifications from its millions of streams.

The statement did not sit well with many social media users as it sparked mixed reactions.
The fact that Davido and Burna Boy both came out in 2012 led some to believe that Davido disrespected his colleague by referring to him as a “new cat” and shouldn’t have also compared him with artistes like Rema and Asake.
Some netizens agreed with his assertion, reteirated that Burna Boy is not on the same level as Wizkid and Davido.
Others noted that he should have added Olamide to the list of successful pioneers.
