Jaden Smith, a Hollywood star, has stated that his mother, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, exposed him and the rest of the Smith family to psychedelics.

Psychedelic drugs, often known as hallucinogens, are mind-altering chemicals that cause changes in perception, emotion, and cognitive function, according to the Alcohol and Drugs Foundation of the United States. Psychedelics modify a person’s thoughts, sense of time, and emotions through affecting all of the senses.

These drugs can ”cause a person to hallucinate — seeing or hearing things that do not exist or are distorted,” the Alcohol and Drugs Foundation said.

Speaking at the Psychedelic Science conference in Denver, Colorado, last week, the 24-year-old Jaden Smith said, “I think it was my mom, actually, that was really the first one to make that step for the family.”

He continued saying; “It was just her for a really, really long time and then eventually it just trickled and evolved, and everybody found it in their own ways.”

Jaden also spoke on his tight relationship with siblings; sister Willow, 22, and half-brother Trey, 30, crediting psychedelics for aiding with these connections.

“Siblings can argue so much and fight so much, and lord knows me and my siblings have done so much of that in the past,” he said. “But the level of love and empathy that I can feel for them inside of the [psychedelic] experiences and outside of the experiences has been something that’s profound and beautiful.”

Recall also, Jada, 51, in a November episode of her Red Table Talk hosted alongside her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and daughter, Willow, discussed her experience with psychedelics.

Jada spoke on her struggle with depression, disclosing how beneficial the psychedelics have been on her healing journey.

“I struggled with depression for so long. And the thing about the plant medicine is it helps you feel better but also solves the problems of how you got there in the first place,” she said.

“You have to really wanna do it, this is not for play,” she said. “You have to be willing to confront some hard stuff. It is very healing and it has changed my life.”
