Death of Don Jazzy’s mum inspired my hit song – Johnny Drille

Nigerian artist,John Ighodaro, also known as Johnny Drille, has revealed the inspiration behind his hit song.

In a recent interview with Hip TV, Johnny Drille, the talented artist opened up about the idea behind his hit song ‘How are you my friend”.

According to the artist, the song was inspired by the death of Don Jazzy’s mother.

Johnny Drille revealed that he co-wrote  the track with Don Jazzy and that the song was the Mavin boss’ idea.

He also revealed that he thought about so many things, including the fact that he knew alot of people are going through stuffs they wouldn’t be able to share, so he felt alot of people would be able to connect with the song.

He said:

“For ‘How Are You My Friend’, the inspiration behind it was, Don Jazzy has just lost his mum like a couple of weeks prior.

I guess, maybe this was his own way of talking about it because a lot of people were reaching out to him that he has not heard from like years. So, it just kind of hit him that, ‘Omo, I actually have these many friends that I have not spoken with for so long.’

“I also think that we are also in pretty touch times. The economy is crazy. A lot of people having it hard. A lot of people going through things in their lives that sometimes they don’t feel comfortable sharing them. And I guess, maybe that is why people have been able to connect with the song.”

In another interview with Hip TV, Johnny had recalled an experience that made him feel like a looser.

Jonny revealed that the day he felt like a loser was when he was evicted in the talent show, MTN project fame.

He stated that he appeared on the show in 2013.

According to him:

“A lot of people don’t know but I was on Project Fame in 2013. I did not make top 10 not to talk of winning. But for me, it was like the beginning of everything for all these.

“I know when I was evicted that night, something was born in me. For the first time in my life, I feel like a loser. I feel like I wasn’t worth anything. That night, I made a decision that I’m going to become a great person, a great musician, a great artiste. So, it was from then that I started doing music professionally.”
