Access Bank has renovated a four-office building at Vehicle Inspection Service zonal office in Ojodu, Lagos State, that was burnt during #EndSARS crisis in 2020.
While handing over the refurbished building to the management of the VIS in Lagos, Access Bank noted that it was committed to adding value to the community.
An Executive Director of the bank, Iyabo Soji-Okunsanya, said Lagos State is a state that others should emulate, and it was a priviledge to hand over the building to the VIS.
“The donation of this building is to support their work so that they can serve the community were they operate from,” she said.
Executives of the VIS were present at the event, and appreciated Access Bank for refurbishing the building.
Jumoke Wale-Sebiomo of Access Bank, said, the bank started the project in 2020 after the building was destroyed during the riot.
She said, “We have impacted in the past in different aspects of the society including schools and others. So, when #EndSARS happened, we decided to assist with the VIO building that was destroyed then.
“We decided to refurbish a four-office block because the fire destroyed about 80 per cent of the building. We thank VIO for the collaboration and our team for achieving this.”
While appreciating the gesture, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Abdulhafiz Toriola, said, “It is, however, a joyful moment for us as a government to witness the birth of this building as part of the recovery process. As a worthy partner, Access Bank took this project very closely to heart and delivered this state-of-the-heart facility to the state government.
“On behalf of the State Government and the good people of the state, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Access Bank for the benevolence and unwavering commitment to the present administration THEME agenda and our institutions.”
