Renowned Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, disclosed how excessive drinking resulted in an accident that nearly claimed his life.

Pete Edochie, in a chat with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, recounted in 1977 he experienced a car accident with a stationary trailer due to excessive drinking. The accident could have resulted in his death, but he was saved by divine intervention.

According to him, while leaving Nsukka, he fell asleep at the wheel, which led to a collision with a trailer, ultimately knocking him into the bushes.

Sharing another close shave with death, Edochie revealed that he had once been kidnapped too.

“I drove my car under a truck. I will say the truth, perhaps I had too much to drink. On the 14th day of March 1977, I drove under a stationary trailer in the night and by the grace of God I came out of it.

There was a time I was coming out of Nsukka and I slept on the wheel. I ran into a trailer and it knocked me into the bush. Like I said I have had some close shave but I thank God I am still alive. I have been kidnapped once too.”

This is coming after the Thespian expressed shock over the spate of divorce in the movie industry.

In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo published on Friday on Instagram, the 76-year-old mentioned the likes of Chioma Akpotha, Ireti Doyle and Tonto Dikeh as some actresses who have left their marriages.

He said, “If you come to our industry today, most of our girls who got married some two, three years ago have all left their husbands.

I’m even shocked that Chioma Chukwuka, Ireti Doyle, Tonto have all left their marriages.”

Okonkwo, as he is fondly called, said he believes that many of them left because they think it is greener on the other side.
