Wizkid, his sister, others hold candlelight procession for late mum in Surulere

  • On a fine Wednesday evening, WizKid, along with his sister and a close-knit clan, gathered in unison to pay their respects at the heartfelt candlelight tribute for the talented Singer’s late mother, the esteemed Mrs. Jane Balogun.
  • The music sensation made an early touchdown today, with his late mum’s funeral firmly scheduled for October 12, 2023.

Mrs. Jane Balogun, the Late mother of the renowned Nigerian Singer Ayo Balogun, better known as WizKid, was commemorated with heartfelt reverence by her cherished family and a host of well-wishers.

In a touching gesture, WizKid, accompanied by his elder sister, astute Project Management Consultant, Busayo Balogun, joined hands with other close-knit family members and a circle of friends, all dressed in black, to light the way with a candlelight service in loving memory of the departed.

The solemn yet heartwarming occasion unfolded in Lagos State, complete with a procession that paraded through the streets of Shitta Small London, Surulere, a neighborhood close to WizKid’s roots where he came of age.

Wizkid’s mother tragically passed away around 1.30 a.m. on Friday, August 18th. On Sunday, October 8th, the Balogun family has unveiled the intricate details of her impending burial ceremony.

A social media flyer surfaced, outlining the funeral plans for the departed soul, which encompass a wake-keeping and tribute night slated for Thursday, October 12th, 2023.

The final farewell is scheduled for Friday, October 13th, with her funeral service taking place at the RCCG City of David in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Mrs. Dolapo Balogun’s legacy continues through her husband, Alhaji M.O Balogun, her four children – Yetunde, Omolara, Olubusayo, and Ayodeji Balogun, as well as her beloved grandchildren.

She died last two months in Lagos State. Since the incident, Wizkid, had remained out of the public spotlight and off social media.

However, the Starboy boss made his first public appearance after almost one month in hibernation mourning the death of his mum.
