The Chief Executive Officer of Smart Gas, Dr. Yinka Opeke, has announced that her company is advancing a “Gas for Trash” initiative aimed at fostering environmental cleanliness and building a sustainable society.
Opeke said this while speaking to community chiefs, market leaders, women, families, and youths in the Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA community recently in Mushin, Lagos.
She revealed that the “Trash for Gas” campaign aligns with our company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance priorities and demonstrates the tangible measures we are implementing to support our operations.
She hinted that no fewer than 650 families have benefited from this community project.
Opeke said, “We hope that this event serves as a wake-up call to all of us to see the damage we are exposing ourselves to by littering our environment with trash and usage of firewood and charcoal.
“We know some of us think the government has the sole responsibility of ensuring we live in a clean environment, but our environment is our collective responsibility, and we must be intentional about how we take care of it because when we do, we are the first beneficiaries of a safer and healthier community.”
