A health maintenance organisation, Ultimate Health Management Services Limited has partnered with the Association of Nigerian Women Business Network and Unity Bank Plc to increase the enrollment of women into the health insurance scheme and advance universal health coverage.
The partnership which is aimed at integrating the informal sector into the country’s health insurance scheme will enable the women to access affordable, and quality healthcare.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ultimate Health Management Services Limited, Lekan Ewenla, disclosed this at an interactive session with journalists in Abuja during the 2023 ANWBN summit and 10th anniversary.
Ewenla said “The partnership with the women association will drive the enrollment process of women in the insurance scheme. The membership of this association runs into about four million women; we have been talking about gender inclusiveness, the wellbeing of the girl-child and the need to carry our women along. For us in Ultimate HMO, we do not just talk about it, we drive and act it. This partnership is a serious project for us.
“For a start, we want to enroll 100,000 women from this programme and that is the first leg, and we are driving this enrollment process on this health insurance programme in partnership with Unity Bank. The bank came up with Yanga product and it is designed to enhance the small-and-medium scale businesses that are driven by women. So, the moment a woman opens an account with Unity Bank, Ultimate HMO provides health insurance programme for that woman to drive the process.”
