- Today, Tuesday, 7th November 2023 happened to be the date scheduled for late Mohbad’s coroner inquest.
- The late singer’s wife, Wunmi however broke her silence as she spoke at length on issues surrounding her husband’s death.
During the ongoing inquest into the untimely passing of her husband, Mohbad, Omawumi made a significant revelation that sheds new light on the circumstances surrounding his death.
In her statement provided today, she disclosed that her husband began experiencing discomfort after receiving an injection administered by a nurse and thereby told her to stop.
According to her, Mohbad passed on September 12, 2023, after he complained of feeling unwell shortly after an auxiliary nurse administered an injection. She disclosed that he started vomiting, and this disturbing incident occurred around 1 p.m. on that day.
Omawumi’s statement also revealed an earlier altercation between Mohbad and his friend, Prime Boy, which played a role in the events leading up to his demise. She disclosed that Mohbad had sustained a minor injury during a fight with Prime Boy in Ikorodu on Sunday, September 10, 2023.
Recalling the events surrounding the altercation, Omawumi described how they were surrounded by a massive crowd of fans, making it challenging for them to leave the venue. Mohbad had requested Prime Boy to have his younger brother, Adura Aloba, speak to the bouncer and arrange their exit. However, they were instructed to wait until other artists finished their performances, which frustrated Mohbad as he was delayed for two hours.
Prime Boy acknowledged that Mohbad’s brother had been rude to him, but Mohbad chose not to publicly reprimand his brother. During this escalating argument, Omawumi found herself in the midst of the situation. As Mohbad left the vehicle to confront Prime Boy, she hurriedly called for assistance from another vehicle following them to mediate the dispute, but she was not present during the actual confrontation.
Continuing her statement, Omawumi explained that Mohbad did not seek immediate medical attention for his injuries, for undisclosed reasons. The following day, September 11th, she noticed a change in his behaviour, and he confided in her that his hand was causing him discomfort.
She suggested going to the hospital, but Mohbad declined, and she applied ointment to his wound. Mohbad had also mentioned that a nurse would be arriving shortly.
The nurse, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, had been summoned by Mohbad’s friend. However, during the tetanus injection administered by the nurse, Mohbad suddenly expressed discomfort.
The next coroner inquest hearing is scheduled to take place on Nov 15.
