Rema’s hit song ‘Calm Down‘ has been ranked as the world’s most Shazammed song of 2023.

The young Nigerian singer has undoubtedly captivated audiences globally with his unique style and melodies.

Released earlier in the year 2022, ‘Calm Down’ quickly gained popularity and became a viral sensation. The song’s fusion of afrobeats and contemporary pop elements seems to have struck a chord with listeners across the globe.

The song became the first African song to top the Global Shazam Year-End chart.

Shazam, the popular music identification app, recorded an extraordinary number of user’s search for ‘Calm Down’. This high demand ultimately led to its ranking as the most Shazammed song of the year.

To accomplish this, “Calm Down” defeated “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus and “Bloody Mary” by Lady Gaga, which came in second and third, respectively.

On Apple Music in 2023, the remix of “Calm Down,” which features Selena Gomez, is the song that has been streamed the most globally.

On Apple Music, it is currently the 45th most streamed song in the United States for 2023.

Along with having the most performances of any African artist on the 2023 Billboard Year-End Charts (34), Rema also holds the record for most airplay, album and song chart entries.
