At the wake keep for the late Access Holdings CEO, Herbert Wigwe, the Master of Ceremony (MC) faced backlash and was booed by attendees for neglecting to acknowledge the presence of Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Peter Obi.

In Omueke, Isiokpo community, Rivers State, dignitaries, guests, well-wishers, and loved ones of the late Herbert Wigwe, CEO of Access Holdings, are assembled for their Christian wake, paid respects to him, his wife, and son.

About a month ago, Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and their eldest son Chizzy were tragically involved in a fatal air crash in the US. Although funeral rites for the Wigwe family commenced earlier in the week, dignitaries have begun to assemble in Rivers State in preparation for their burial ceremonies.

A widely circulated video captured the MC’s apparent acknowledgment of other distinguished guests at the event, glaringly omitting recognition for Peter Obi.

The crowd’s fury erupted into boos, leaving the MC flustered and bewildered. It wasn’t until later that he came to the realization of his blunder and publicly extended an apology to Peter Obi for the oversight.

Among those present to pay their last respects, ahead of the burial ceremony slated for Saturday are the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike; Governor of Rivers State, Siminalyi Fubara, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State for 2023 Tonye Cole.
