Popular Nigerian skit maker cum show host, Adebayo Ridwan Abidemi better known as Isbae U, has stirred reactions with a humorous melody that poked fun at Yinka Ayefele’s disability.

On his podcast, Curiosity Made Me Ask, Isbae U in a short clip he shared could be heard singing a nursery rhyme asking someone to stand up if they are happy to walk, unfortunately Yinka Ayefele who the camera was focused on just stared on.

To be explicit, Isbae U sang:

“If you’re happy and you know stand up.”

Yinka Ayefele seemed dazed while gazing at his host for clarity. The incident sparked a debate about the boundaries of comedy and the importance of respecting people with disabilities with some calling it insensitive and disrespectful. A larger percentage however laughed it off.

Yinka Ayefele, a renowned singer and owner of a network of radio stations in the southwest, has been wheelchair-bound since a car accident in 1997.
