Burna Boy may not be skillful lyrically – Vector

Nigerian rap sensation, Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, otherwise known as Vector, has suggested that Afrobeats and dancehall star, Burna Boy may not possess lyrical skill even though he has a lot to say.

He spoke during a recent episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, noting that whatever Burna has to say should be said, but for a presentation to be interesting, one have to be skillful lyrically.

The ‘Gbedu’ crooner, however, urged Burna Boy not to be afraid of speaking his mind, adding that as an artiste he has the right to express himself lyrically.

Vector said;

“Burna Boy has a lot to say so let him say it. But if you have a lot to say, for you to be interesting, you have to be skillful lyrically.”

In other news, Nigerian musician, Terry Ejeh, popularly known as Terry Apala, has disclosed that he is doing his best to preserve Apala music and ensure its evolution.

He said he has always loved Apala music right from his childhood, and though he is not from the south west where the genre originated, his background in the Mushin area of Lagos inspired him to wholeheartedly embrace it.

The artiste also revealed that a good number of young music lovers informed him that it is because of him they listen to Apala music.

According to Terry, he believes music is one of the best ways to spread the Nigerian culture across the world and that is what he wishes to achieve because ‘it is important to propagate what is ours’.
