Nigerian hip-hop artist, Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has expressed his deep admiration for Tubaba, haling him as the only veteran musician worthy of the ‘legend’ title in Nigeria.

The artist took to Twitter to declare Tuface as the only deserving artist to be titled a legend in Nigeria’s music industry.

Odumodublvck expressed his admiration for Tubaba in response to a viral video where the singer praised emerging talents including Odumodublvck himself.

In his tweet, the artist emphasized Tubaba’s profound influence on the music scene, particularly highlighting his dual prowess in singing and rapping.

He wrote;

“Na person wey I go call OG [legend] be this. All day, every day… E dey sing, rap. E dey sing, e dey rap. [He] Inspired a whole generation [of musicians]. It’s not a joke.”

He stated that while he possesses the ability to deliver core hip-hop akin to American star Eminem, he has deliberately chosen not to.

According to him, Nigerians simply don’t understand hip-hop. In a podcast interview, OdumoduBlvck shared his perspective. He believes that Nigerians predominantly gravitate towards melodic music, and to ensure commercial success, he decided to dumb down his rap.

He stated that his goal is to make Nigerian rap exciting, much like how Wizkid revolutionized R&B in Nigeria.

According to him, while some Nigerian artists have pursued pure rap, they failed to create the necessary excitement for listeners…
