I lost opportunities over my support for Palestine – Kehlani reveals

American singer-songwriter Kehlani Ashley Parrish, popularly known as Kehlani, has spoken out about the professional setbacks she faced due to her public support for Palestine.

In a recent interview with ‘Breakfast Club,’ Kehlani revealed that her advocacy led to lost opportunities and deals.

Kehlani shared that she experienced significant pushback and loss, including the cancellation of promised magazine features, brand deals, and other opportunities.

Despite this, she expressed no regrets, stating that she can go to sleep at night knowing that she is aligned to what she learned to be as an artist.

In her words:

“I have experienced a lot of pushback.

“I’ve experienced a lot of loss. I’ve experienced a lot of things that were promised and set up for this rollout and album to happen, supposed to be a lot of ‘firsts’… magazines and these things… brand deals and opportunities that we’re sad to lose. But at the end of the day, I don’t regret doing something that I… I can go to sleep at night. I can go to sleep knowing that, like, what I’ve learned to be as an artist, I’m aligned with.”

This revelation comes after Kehlani publicly expressed her support for Palestine on Instagram on May 29th and featured the Palestinian flag in her music video for ‘Next 2 U’ on May 31st.

Her efforts helped raise $500,000 for the people of Gaza, Congo, and Sudan.

Few months ago singer Kehlani publicly came out as gay.

The singer disclosed this on Thursday, April 22. She said in a video: “I am gay ga-gay gay gay!!!”

Kehlani says she’s been trying to have intimate conversations with her family and friends about coming out, but she says they are hardly shocked.

She said her loved ones told her they’ve known for a while because “the f**king closet was glass.”
