  • Kenneth Okonkwo, an actor and politician, has criticized comedian and fellow actor Okey Bakassi.
  • This is due to some statements Bakassi made against former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
  • Kenneth took to Instagram on Saturday to respond to a video of his colleague challenging Obi’s ability to defend Nigerians votes.

Actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has criticised comedian and fellow actor Okey Bakassi for his comments on former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.

Kenneth took to Instagram on Saturday to respond to a video of Okey questioning whether Obi has the capacity to defend the votes of Nigerians.

Okey had said:

“What I want to ask is, Nigerians are galvanised to vote for you. Do you have the capacity to defend our votes?”

In a lengthy Instagram post, Kenneth hit back at Okey, accusing him of hypocrisy and ridiculing his career.

His caption partially read:

“If this hypocrite believed PO had the capacity to defend our votes, why ask him?

“No wonder he was hiding under his mother’s bed during the campaign while we were risking our lives fighting for the votes, which were later on not defended.”

The actor also criticised Okey’s contributions to Nollywood, stating:

“First of all, in all his movie life, I am not aware of any movie where he played the lead role that ever made a hit.

“It’s not unusual for failures to try to get traffic in their interviews by twisting facts about notable names. Little minds discuss people, and they do it dishonestly.”

“I don’t care what hypocrites and opportunists like Okey Bakassi say. Pretenders and sycophants say and do the worst at the back.”

Last month, Kenneth, who was one of the spokesmen for the Peter Obi presidential campaign council, announced his departure from the Labour Party and criticised Obi for his leadership style.

Okey dismissed Kenneth’s comments on Obi, pointing out that he had never won an election and thus had no right to criticise Obi’s capabilities.
