‘I recorded my hit songs sitting down’ – Wizkid

Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid, has shared insights into his music-making process.

In a recent video, he discussed how he approaches recording hit songs, stating that he often creates them while sitting down.

Wizkid highlighted that he doesn’t feel pressured to produce hits,but instead relies on his natural talent and collaboration with trusted producers like P2J.

He also expressed his disinterest in promoting his music or engaging in media interviews, preferring to focus on creating music that resonates with his audience.

Wizkid highlighted his confidence in understanding what his fans want and his ability to produce quality music without external validation.

He credits his success to his relaxed approach and the global reach of music today.

All my biggest songs from ‘Holla At Your Boy’ to ‘Soco’, ‘Joro’, ‘Ojuelegba’, I recorded them sitting down,” he said.

You [P2J] know how my things be for Lagos. You’ve been in my house. You know what I do. I’m chilling. You get me, no stress.

“You see promo, I hate doing that sh*t. You know press, I hate doing all that sh*t, bro. I know exactly what the people want. [Producer] P2J is the only n*gga that understands me.

“All we have to do is turn on the mic. The amazing thing is that the world is now globalised, you don’t need anyone to lie to you.”

Few hours ago, Wizkid hinted at date for release of his new album, Morayo.

The Grammy Award-winning artist made the announcement on his verified Instagram page, sharing the exciting news with his fans on September 2nd, 2024 after sharing several screenshots of fans messaging him while demanding the urgent release of the album.

Wizkid had previously teased the forthcoming project, Morayo, a few days ago, generating immense buzz and anticipation among music enthusiasts.

The singer hinted at an upcoming announcement, promising to share a piece of exciting news by 1 PM on Monday, September 2nd, 2024. True to his word, Wizkid unveiled the release date of Morayo, seemingly confirming that the album will drop on October 1st, 2024, coinciding with Nigeria’s Independence Day
