Veteran Hollywood actor James Earl Jones, known for his deep, resonant voice and exceptional performances, has passed away at the age of 93.

Jones died peacefully at his home on September 9, 2024, surrounded by his family, as confirmed by his agent, Barry McPherson.

Born in Mississippi in January 1931, Jones became a Hollywood legend with unforgettable roles in films such as Coming to America, The Greatest, Field of Dreams, and Conan the Barbarian.

He is perhaps best known for his iconic voice work as Darth Vader in Star Wars and as Mufasa in Disney’s The Lion King (1994).

Over his distinguished career, Jones received numerous honors, including an honorary Oscar, a Grammy, an Emmy, and a Tony Award.

He made significant contributions to television, winning two Emmys for his roles in Gabriel’s Fire and as the older Alex Haley in Roots: The Next Generation.

Jones also appeared in early episodes of Sesame Street and lent his voice to The Simpsons.

In recent years, he publicly addressed his long battle with type 2 diabetes for the first time in nearly two decades.

He is survived by his son, Flynn Earl Jones.

In other news, Famous Hollywood actor and singer Martin Mull died at the age of 80 on June 27, 2024.

His death was confirmed by his wife, Wendy Mull, and his daughter, Maggie Mull, a TV writer and comic artist.
