Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has walked into a storm of monumental proportions, as his recent appearance in full police regalia has rattled the Nigerian Police Force to its core.

Otse boldly positioned himself as a force against injustice in Nigeria, an audacious declaration that, despite his intentions, has left law enforcement officials fuming.

On Saturday, the Police Force issued a stern statement via X, making it clear that Verydarkman’sactions were perceived as an outright affront to their institution.

Condemning his unauthorized use of the uniform, the police emphasized that VDM’s stunt crossed into dangerous territory, one that undermines the sanctity and respect that their symbols are meant to uphold.

Far from brushing it off as a mere skit, the NPF stated that they have launched a formal investigation to uncover the origins of the police gear used in the video, as well as to ascertain if Otse had any legitimate authority for his stunt.

“The Force unequivocally disassociates itself from this unauthorized portrayal and has launched a full investigation to determine the source of the Police gear used, as well as the authority under which he acted,” it wrote.

It is important to remind the public that the unauthorized use of Police uniforms, insignia, or accoutrements constitutes a criminal offense, as stipulated in Section 251 of the Criminal Code Law and Section 133 of the Penal Code Law, and is subject to strict penalties.
