British-Nigerian best-selling author and content creator Toni Omotola Adenlé, known professionally as Toni Tone has shared a mistaken identity situation.
Known for her best-selling book, I Wish I Knew This Earlier: Lessons on Love, Toni Tone recounted how a UK hotel mistook her for popular Nigerian media personality, actress and photographer Gbemi Anthonia Adefuye also known as Toni Tones.
Taking to her Instagram story, the author, who was at the London premiere of the Wicked movie, which stars Ariana Grande and others, revealed how the hotel she was staying welcomed her in grand style.
The UK hotel took it a step further by printing photos of the author and placed them in her hotel room, unknowing to them that the pictures weren’t that of Toni Tone but of actress, Toni Tones, who is her namesake.
Toni Tone who didn’t seem offended stated in her light hearted post that the thought is what matters to her, and she thinks it is cute. Sharing a screenshot of the printed photos, Toni Tone wrote:
“Thought this was a cute touch until I realized that it wasn’t me, and they printed photos of the wrong Toni. This is a Nollywood actress called Gbemi, who goes by the name Toni ToneS with an S. It’s the thought that counts, I guess.”
