Actress cum filmmaker Mercy Aigbe has thanked her fans and colleagues for their support after her house was gutted by fire.
On Wednesday December 4, Mercy Aigbe shared the news of the incident on Instagram, posting a video of the damage caused by the fire.
She captioned it, “Devastated! Thank God no life was lost! It is well.”
The post drew an outpouring of support from industry colleagues like Iyabo Ojo, Adeniyi Johnson, Faithia Williams, Blessing Obasi, Uzee Usman, Toyin Abraham, and Odunlade Adekola, who offered prayers and words of encouragement.
Shockingly, some netizens trolled the actress, calling it karma, amongst other things.
In an update on Thursday, Mercy Aigbe ignored the criticism and expressed her appreciation for the messages, prayers, and offers of help she received, revealing how her phone was inundated with calls and texts. She described the love shown to her as overwhelming. The mother of two wrote;
“I feel so blessed, surrounded with so much love! People asking for my account details, my phone buzzing non-stop, prayers, comments, posts—omg, I am so so overwhelmed with all the love shown me especially at this time.”
Mercy extended her thanks to everyone who reached out, praying that God would protect them and their families from harm. She added:
“Big thank you to everyone who reached out, thank you for your calls, prayers, words of encouragement, support, DMs—it means a lot to me.
“My heart is filled with joy, gratitude, and appreciation. Eseun Modupe!!!! God will continue to come through for each and every one of you, keep y’all and your household from evil, and multiply you in measures you can’t imagine. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.”
This comes after actress Kemi Afolabi appealed to netizens criticizing her colleague turned friend, Mercy Aigbe over her recently burnt property.
In a rather emotional live video that was released on Instagram, on Thursday evening, the actress unsuccessful held back her tears while pleading for support for Mercy Aigbe due to the loss.
Kemi Afolabi asked that netizens be kind with their words as there is a limit to what a person can take, no matter how strong they are.
