Yoruba Nollywood actress Motilola Akinlami has recounted a harrowing near-death experience.

Taking to her verified social media page, Motilola reflected on the challenges she overcame in the lead-up to her birthday, on Tuesday, January 21.

The actress revealed that her birthday held great significance this year after enduring numerous attacks and threats to her life.

She disclosed spending 28 days in the hospital and expressed gratitude for overcoming the odds. She wrote:

“This BIRTHDAY is a special one because I’m alive, because I survived numerous attacks, plenty threats to life.

“So this isn’t a post to join the popularity contest. It’s so that everyone who sees this post will say, ‘Thank you God for Motilola.

because this post isn’t announcing the End of her life…

Motilola urged her followers to join her in thanksgiving while promising to share the full story of her ordeal at a later date.

In May 2024, Motilola Akinlami called out her senior colleague, Kunle Afod for reportedly sabotaging her in the Nollywood industry.

In the series of videos, Motilola claimed Afod’s wife was worried about their closeness. She then decided to end her friendship with him but he made it a reason to sabotage her from getting big jobs in the industry. According to the actress, this had been going on for five years.

The actress expressed her frustration over how movie producers have ghosted her because Kunle Afod reportedly manipulated their colleagues to sideline her.

According to Motilola, she has spoken to a lot of her senior colleagues to help resolve the issue but all efforts have proven futile.

In another video, Motilola noted that her case was similar to that of late actor Junior Pope who was also blacklisted in the film industry.

According to her, Kunle Afod has probably also been waiting for her to die but God will not let it happen.
