Comedian Young Elder has announced plans to build a nursing home for the elderly.
In an interview with Sunday Telegraph, Young Elder shared his personal experience of growing up in a poor environment and how these experiences have shaped his perspective on life.
He explained that this initiative is a way for him to give back to the community, particularly to older people who have inspired his comic style.
He stated that he wants to support the elderly as a way of showing appreciation for the wisdom and knowledge they have shared with him.
He also emphasized the importance of young people supporting their parents and older generations.
He said: “Growing up in a polygamous and struggling family was tough for me. I remember attending Oregbeni Estate Primary School, Patricia Group of Schools, and the University of Benin where I studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering, graduating in 2012. It was tough.
“So, living my dream was almost impossible, but I persevered and resolved that once I become somebody in the society I must contribute to the upliftment of others. My preference here is the elderly whom I mimic and whose image and wisdom I depict in my comedy.”

The disagreement got so bad that the young men threatened to beat the older man with a whip (koboko), if he dared to come down from his car.
Taking up the challenge, the elderly man got down and the young men followed suit with a ‘koboko’ in hand, ready to strike their opponent.
Well, Alex noted that she couldn’t just sit back and watch this go on especially since everyone else was eager to record the scene unfolding with their phones and no one made an attempt to intervene.
Not caring for her own safety, she stated that she came down from her car and began to struggle for the whip with one of the guys as she couldn’t stand by without doing anything.
