But in a revealing interview on TV360, an online news channel in Lagos, Joyce set the record straight, described the reports as nothing but a calculated attempt to smear her father’s and the family’s hard-earned reputation.

Joyce recounted how she and her siblings were accused of manipulating their father to control Tochi and seize Herbert’s assets, revealed how Tochi was legally positioned as the guardian of her younger siblings, a move Joyce believes was crafted to edge them out of their rightful place in their brother’s legacy.

With a blend of resolve and vulnerability, Joyce explained that the only legal action her father took was a simple appeal for transparency and accountability in managing Herbert’s estate.

According to her, it was never about control or greed but rather a quest to ensure that the weight of responsibility did not rest too heavily on young, unprepared shoulders.

Her frustration was palpable, especially as a legal professional, as she detailed the opacity surrounding the estate’s administration.

Yet, amid the legal entanglements and the family’s public ordeal, Joyce insisted that their bond with Herbert’s children remained intact.

Narrating what truly transpired, Ms Wigwe stated in parts:

“My father would never fight his child. If you look at our pleadings, we requested that Grandpa want to work alongside his granddaughter to nurture and raise the younger ones. It was never against Tochi—it was about working with her. Anyone who takes the time to read our pleadings will see that we were advocating for unity and cooperation with Tochi.

“Neither my father nor any of us would ever sue our child. We love all our children, and they are close to one another.”
