WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that Chinwo is taking him to court over defamation, demanding a lstaggering N1.1 billion in damages over his involvement in her ongoing legal battle with former manager and label boss, Eezee Tee.

A court document dated March 3, 2025, made the gravity of the case clear, but if VDM was shaken, he did not show it.

Instead, he took to social media with a mix of mock humility and theatrical regret, jokingly apologized to the singer while making it clear that even if he wanted to pay, his pockets simply could not stretch that far.

Verydarkman also listed the lawsuits against him and the amount involved including, Femi Falana and Folarin Falana: N500 million, Prophet Jerrymaiah Omoto Fufeyin: N1 billion, Nedu Ani (Nedu Wazobia): N500 million, Esinjemiyotan Atsepoy (Mr Jollof’s wife): N500 million, Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky): N1 billion, and Ihuoma Julia Nneji (Daughter of ABC Transport founder).

VDM candidly admitted that if the court ruled against him in the cases he outlined, the financial burden would be more than he could handle.

In a dramatic twist, the clip captured him pouring his emotions into Mercy Chinwo’s gospel hit Excess Love, not just singing, but seemingly using the lyrics as a heartfelt plea.

With each note, he sent an unmistakable message to the singer, urged her to show mercy and reconsider the weight of the compensation hanging over him.
