- Mr Macaroni, VeryDarkMan and others have reacted after a serving Corps member in Lagos cried out over threats
- The lady went viral on social media for calling out Tinubu’s government over the current economic hardship in the country.
- The duo, amongst others publicly defended the corper in individual posts on their social media accounts.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been trending on social media for hours after a serving Corp member in Lagos State cried out over an alleged threat she received from the scheme’s board, following her online post about the rising costs of commodities in the country.
The Corps member Ushie Uguamaye in tears, expressed how frustrated she was over the high cost of goods in the market, calling President Bola Tinubu’s government a “terrible” one over the inflation in commodity prices.
Barely 24 hours after she shared the video, she posted another video in which she received calls from an individual alleged to be an NYSC official, who asked her to bring down the initial clip she shared online.
The Corps member added that she has been receiving calls from various NYSC officials, urging her to desist from insulting the government and take down the previous video which has since gone viral.
Taking to social media, skit maker, actor and activist Debo Adedayo aka Mr Macaroni, social media critic Martis Otse alias VeryDarkMan and other netizens reacted to the unfolding drama.
Mr Macaroni in a tweet via his official X handle sent a message to the NYSC board, stating that they had no jurisdiction to threaten any Corps member for sharing their opinion about the president’s performance. He wrote:
“To the DG, Coordinators and every official of the NYSC!!!
You cannot threaten, intimidate or victimize any corper for expressing their view on the performance of the president.
They are citizens with rights!
The president is in office to serve the people and every Nigerian, Corper or not has the right to hold their Leaders accountable!!!.”

On his part, VeryDarkMan in a video on Instagram also defended the NYSC member, stating that her comment about Tinubu’s administration is not wrong.
According to VeryDarkMan, the Corps member will be safe because she spoke out. He promised to help her secure a job if she gets blacklisted due to her outburst. He said in part:
“They go don blacklist you like this, you no get work, no worry we dey here, if the going get tough for you and you try private sector and them no collect you, come we go find work give you.”
