Nigerians have taken to social media to express mixed reactions following the trailer of a Nollywood movie inspired by controversial activist, Verydarkman.

The movie titled Verydarkblackman featured veteran Nollywood actor Gentle Jack in the role of the outspoken activist. The movie, produced by Anaele Ugochukwu Dominic, has sparked widespread conversation online, with many calling it unexpected, hilarious, and in some cases, distasteful.

Verydarkman, whose real name remains largely unknown, rose to prominence for his vocal criticism of unregistered skincare products in Nigeria. He later gained further attention for his commentaries on major social issues, including the controversial death of singer Mohbad.

The release of Verydarkblackman movie has drawn criticism from several social media users, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), where opinions have been sharply divided.
