Nollywood fans are buzzing again, and this time, it’s about two of the industry’s leading ladies, Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, possibly squashing their long-rumoured beef.
Screenshots circulating online show that Toyin Abraham recently dropped a playful comment on Funke Akindele’s post, writing:
“Aunty Funke you hot ooo 😍😍😍.”
To the surprise of many, Funke replied warmly:
“Toyin lol. Onijogbon. Thanks dear 😂”
But what really caught fans’ attention was the subtle check on their Instagram follow status. A check on their pages show Funke Akindele is now following Toyin Abraham again, while Toyin is also following Funke. In addition to the surprising banter, many are now interpreting the move as a clear sign of reconciliation.
The pair, often seen as rivals in Nollywood’s box office space, have long been the subject of comparison, especially after their hit movies Battle on Buka Street and Ijakumo, which went head-to-head in the cinemas.
While neither actress has publicly addressed any rift in the past, fans have consistently speculated tension.
For years, the two were rumoured to be in some kind of cold war possibly because there was no public shoutouts, no collaborations, zero online interaction, and they even unfollowed each other at some point. Anytime one trended, the other acted like the internet was on airplane mode.
Now, with this unexpected show of love on social media, fans are hopeful that the icy chapter may be finally behind them. See screenshot of their banter and follower-ship below:
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls earlier in 2024, Toyin wrote an emotional letter on social media. She didn’t mention names, but it was clearly directed at the constant drama surrounding her and certain colleagues. In that letter, she said:
