Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has responded in his own subtle way following a fresh round of online shade from fellow music titan Davido, whose recent post, “I need cane,” was widely interpreted as a mocking jab.
Just hours after Davido’s cryptic diss surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), Wizkid — real name Ayodeji Balogun — broke his silence with a calm, non-confrontational post that appeared to deflect the drama altogether.
Instead of directly addressing the tension, the Starboy honcho took to his timeline and proudly listed the names of his five children:
“Bolu Ayo Zion AJ Morayo ❤️🦅”
While the post didn’t mention Davido, fans were quick to interpret it as a symbolic counterpunch — one that sidesteps the online feud while showcasing maturity, peace, and a focus on fatherhood.

This move comes on the heels of an escalating online standoff between the two Afrobeats icons.
Earlier, Wizkid had tweeted the word “BIGGEST”, widely believed to be a veiled dig at his rivals in the music industry. Davido, in response, quoted the tweet with a dismissive “For your parlor”, followed minutes later by “I need cane” a Nigerian colloquialism implying someone deserves scolding or humiliation.
The posts have stirred intense online buzz, with fans of both artists — the 30BG (Davido’s loyalists) and Wizkid FC — reigniting debates over who truly holds the Afrobeats crown.
Many praised Wizkid’s calm approach, describing it as classy and mature, while others claimed it was a deflection tactic to avoid direct confrontation.
Wizkid and Davido’s relationship has always walked the fine line between rivalry and respect. Despite multiple attempts at reconciliation, including public hugs and backstage camaraderie, they often revert to cryptic tweets, indirect disses, and social media shade — fueling fan wars and competitive energy in the Nigerian music industry.
With Afrobeats now a global genre, both artists are positioning themselves as the face of the movement.
