Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has come under fire following his tribute to American professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, who reportedly passed away at the age of 71 after suffering cardiac arrest.

Hogan’s passing comes just weeks after his wife, Sky Daily, denied online rumours that he was in a coma, insisting that his heart was “strong” as he recovered from multiple surgeries.

Reacting to the tragic loss, Yul took to his Instagram page to express grief over the wrestler’s death, describing Hogan as a beloved childhood hero.

“This one pain. What a life. He was our childhood hero. Rest well, Legendary Hulk Hogan,” he wrote.

However, the actor’s post was met with swift criticism from fans who questioned the sincerity of his grief and pointed out inconsistencies in his public statements about loss and mourning.

Many commenters slammed Yul as “clueless” while referencing the ongoing controversy surrounding his marital issues, and accused him of hypocrisy for publicly mourning a celebrity he never knew personally.

Some fans referenced his controversial remark from last year when he described the same year he lost his teenage son as the “best year” of his life.

“This one pain you, but the year your son died, you said it’s your best year. Don’t worry, Jagaban will fix it,” @orikoejiro wrote.

Another critic, @yvonnnash wrote: “You criticised people for posting others only when they’re dead. Now you’re doing the same? Uncle Tom died the other day, you didn’t post him, but here you are.”
