An alleged acquaintance of Nigerian dance queen Kafayat Shafau, popularly known as Kaffy, has claimed that the real reason men are reluctant to marry her goes beyond her being a single mother.
This comes shortly after Kaffy appeared on the Honest Bunch Podcast, where she opened up about her childhood, experiences as a single mother, and why she remains unmarried.
The mother of two explained that men often stigmatise her because of her status as a single parent, which she believes has affected her chances of finding a partner.
However, an X user identified as @CollinsUma countered her claim, alleging that his personal experience with the choreographer left him with a negative impression.
He recounted an encounter during a project they worked on together, where he said Kaffy insisted on being addressed in a manner he found condescending.
“No, sweetheart, that’s not the reason. We were working on a project together one time and she warned me seriously that I must always call her Dr Kaffy. Spoke to me, a 40+ man, like I was her child. Me that was coordinating a big aspect of the project,” he wrote.
The post has since generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users accusing the critic of being disrespectful, while others backed Kaffy’s personality.
A social media user, @them_alone reacted, “People with PhD no dey carry that Dr thing play. My lecturer in school nearly failed one student because of that.”
@kachistopeet added, “A man who doesn’t like wahala would simply walk away from such drama…and leave the woman to cry bitter. But you see those men who like all the wahala and drama, they’d be ready to jump in the mud with you…and when you come out, you’d still cry bitter.”
As of now, Kaffy has not responded to the fresh claims.
