Big Brother Naija stars, Tacha Akide and Mercy Eke, have once again proven that their long-standing rivalry may finally be a thing of the past.

Birthday message that sparked reactions

Mercy Eke, who clocked a new age, received warm wishes from Tacha in a public post. Dropping a message in Mercy’s comment section, Tacha described her as “gorgeous” and urged her to “stay winning.”

A history of rivalry and shades

The relationship between Mercy and Tacha has been marked by years of subtle digs and social media battles.

In 2023, Tacha shaded Mercy shortly after she flaunted her new Range Rover, tweeting, “But is she me?”, which fuelled talk of rivalry.

That same year, after Ilebaye emerged winner of the All Stars season, Tacha appeared to take another swipe at Mercy, questioning whether she would have won her season without her (Tacha’s) disqualification.

This remark drew criticism from actress Iheme Nancy, who defended Mercy, stressing that she had more votes than Tacha during their season and deserved her victory.

The clash once again brought back memories of the fiery ‘Pepper Dem’ fight that led to Tacha’s disqualification and Mercy’s eventual win.

Reconciliation and moving forward

Despite their messy fallout, Mercy and Tacha reconciled in 2022 during a joint interview with Toke Makinwa, where they addressed the long-time beef that had been fuelled by fans and social media.

Both stars admitted that they didn’t owe the public a staged rivalry and that many thrived on their conflicts.

They further cemented their truce when they appeared on an Instagram Live session with fellow reality star Khloe Abiri, shutting down rumours of animosity.

Tacha’s latest birthday message to Mercy has now reignited talks about the duo’s growth and maturity, with many fans hoping that the era of hostility between them has finally come to an end.
