Funke Akindele, Rotimi Salami, Jide Awobona react to Tems’ Grammy win

Popular Nollywood actors Funke Akindele, Rotimi Salami and Jide Awobana have reacted to superstar singer, Tems’ win at the Grammy last night, February 5.

Just like singer, Yemi Alade celebrated the woman of the moment on her Twitter page, Funke Akindele took to Instagram to congratulate Tems, urging her never to stop being original.

Challenging other young women, Funke advised that they keep pushing, working hard. The actress cum politician wrote:

“Congratulations @temsbaby on winning the Best Melodic Rap Performance at the #2023grammyawards

You’re pride to Nigeria, Africa and women all over the world. Your originality made you stand out!

This is an inspiration to the young women out there, keep pushing against all boundaries, keep working hard, and stay original to your craft and with these, you can always get to the top!”

WITHIN NIGERIA reported that Temilade Openiyi better known as Tems had broke records for winning her first Grammy award.

The Nigerian singer, won the prestigious award at the 65th Grammy award held Sunday night, February 5th, 2023 in Los Angeles.

Her feature on American rapper, Future’s song, ‘Wait for U’, which also featured Drake earned her the award.

With her newest feat, Tems has beat Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and other Nigerian female singers to win the prestigious award.

Although Nigerian-born British singer, Sade Adu, has won 4 Grammy awards, but because, she doesn’t identify herself as Nigerian even when quizzed about her nationality, Tems takes the title of the first Nigerian female artiste to win the award.
