Something was telling me not to post the video – Ayra Starr speaks on her music breakout freestyle

Superstar Nigerian singer cum songwriter, Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, also known as Ayra Starr, has disclosed how a voice was urging her not to post her first freestyle video which eventually led to her breakthrough in the entertainment industry.

Ayra Starr said she used to model before she got signed in to Mavin records by Don Jazzy and despite her reluctance to showcase her talent, her belief in God gave her music career wide publicity.

Speaking with Hip TV, the ‘Rush’ hitmaker added that a few minutes after she posted a freestyle video, Don Jazzy, the Mavin Records boss, reached out to her via Instagram’s direct message. She said:

“I just allowed God to manifest his grace through me. I use to model because I had to make little money for school but I always knew music was going to come.

“The way music manifested, the way it came into my life was like if I had not believed in God, it wouldn’t have happened. I just posted a cover on Instagram that day but I didn’t want to post it.

“I was like it’s too ugly, it’s too emotional, I shouldn’t post it and something kept telling me not to post it, but I posted it.

“It was not up to an hour, my record label boss saw the video and sent me a message like oh come to the studio – and here I am today.”
