A statement from the Deputy Director, Corporate Communications, Human Resources & Administration, Nigerian Insurers Association, Davis Iyasere, said she spoke while addressing members of the committee during the inaugural meeting where she unfolded plans to host the three-day international conference
According to the statement, the 2023 WAICA Educational Conference with the theme, ‘Repositioning the insurance industry in West Africa for global competitiveness’, would take place in May in Lagos.
Odukale who doubles as the deputy chairman of the NIA said, “The sub regional body has decided to address the issue of rating at this time because the insurance industry as a critical player in the economy should be able to compete globally and rating agencies help to access the strength and global competitiveness of insurance companies.

The three-day educational conference would feature papers by A.M Best, a globally acclaimed rating agency and other international scholars of repute.
According to the programme of events released by the Secretary General of the West African Insurance Companies Association, Mr William Coker, the occasion would also mark the 50th anniversary of the subregional body.
