Del-York, Lagos launch 0m film city project

Del-York Group and the Lagos State Government have launched a state-of-the-art film city project in Epe, estimated to cost $100m.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday in Ejirin, a community in Epe Local Government Area of the state, said the initiative was aimed at reshaping the African film and entertainment industry.

The project, named ‘Kebulania Lagos Film City’, is a product of a partnership with Del-York International Group and is expected to boost innovation, talent discovery, and storytelling.

Sanwo-Olu in his welcome speech, said, “Today, we embark on a journey that will redefine the landscape of the film industry in Lagos State.

“As we break the ground for this $100m film city covering a land area of 100 hectares of land and which will be executed on the Private Public Partnership model, we are laying the foundation for a creative hub that will catalyse innovation, talent discovery, and storytelling excellence.”

The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Del-York Group, Linus Idahosa, at the launch, spoke passionately about the transformative potential of the newly unveiled film city project in Epe.

Idahosa, the visionary behind the concept conceived three years ago, emphasised that the venture transcended beyond being just a catalyst for creative mastery, economic vibrancy, and job generation.

Expressing optimism about the collaboration between Lagos Film City and the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Idahosa anticipated substantial economic impact.

He highlighted the expected influx of international visitors, emphasizing that the tourism sector alone will make a significant contribution to the local economy.
