Conference to focus on creative industry’s untapped potential

Harnessing the prospects of Nigeria’s creative industry will be at the front burner when interior design stakeholders meet at this year’s annual conference.

According to a statement by the organisers, the conference, billed to hold on October 28, is tagged ‘Blueprint’. It would feature collaborations with players in the real estate industry and policymakers as part of efforts to optimise the contribution of the interior design sector to the economy.

Speaking at a press conference to herald the annual conference, the president of the Interior Designers Association, Jennifer Chukwujekwe, said the conference aims at shining a spotlight on the opportunities and prospects of the industry.

According to her, collaborating with the real estate industry would also help drive conversations on the role of interior designers in the design process.

She said, “The conference is an annual conference that we have every year for interior designers. We come together to discuss the challenges that we have.

“The alliance is going to bring developers and interior designers together and allow us to partner and do projects together. We all know that interior design should be a lifestyle. It should be a way of life. So we are just trying to create awareness. We will have government officials there.

“So, the real estate sector and interior design industry, we make use of the same artisans. So, this is going to boost the economy. Jobs will trickle down, people will get employed and it will help the economy.”
