‘Why Nigerians don’t give Rema enough credit’ – Johnny Drille

Johnny Drille stated that Rema has an incredible contributions to the Nigerian music industry and beyond.

The artist claimed that despite Rema’s many musical accomplishments at a young age, Nigerians do not appreciate him because they bias.

Listing out his achievements, the ‘Believe me ‘ crooner stated that if Rema were some other artistes, he would have been widely recognized.

In a recent interview with Lagos’s The Beat 99.9 FM, Johnny Drille stated:

Not to be controversial or anything but if Rema was some other artistes, other big artistes in Nigeria, everyone would be screaming at their lungs like, ‘Hey! This person is breaking grounds..’

And Rema for his age has done some really incredible things that I don’t think we give him enough credit for. I mean, he has literally one of the biggest songs not just in Africa but in the world with ‘Calm Down’ which has been on the Billboard Top 10 for almost a year. That has never been done in the history of African music. And he is having a lot of sold out shows all over the world.

“It just feels to me like he’s just getting started. We need to give the young man more credit.”

Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ remix, featuring Selena Gomez, etched its name into the history books by becoming the first Nigerian track to hold a spot on the U.S. Billboard charts for a full year.

During a recent interview on UAE’s The Kris Fade Show, Davido couldn’t contain his amazement at how the song not only held its ground but also climbed into the Top 5 on the charts.
