  • The reality TV star admitted her mistake in making a generalisation that all women have had one or two abortions
  • Phyna noted that she meant no harm and did not mean to make such a generalisation about all women.

Former BBNaija housemate, Phyna, has released a statement addressing the recent controversy surrounding her alleged abortion.

In the statement, the reality TV star expresses her sincerest apologies to her fans, family, and the public for any distress or disappointment caused.

Phyna acknowledges that the abortion topic is a sensitive and personal issue, and she deeply regrets the unintended consequences of her actions.

Her statement read in part, “I write this statement to address the issues concerning an interview did months ago where I talked about a very sensitive topic and I inaccurately suggested “all” women have engaged in it. Firstly, I would like to address the fact that in as much as I was misunderstood, I didn’t mean to project it on every female gender. I will never encourage abortion especially not in this part of the world, where it can pose a great threat to the life of the person with the illegal and unhealthy procedures that surround it.”

Phyna expeessed her commitment to growth, learning from this experience, and using her platform to advocate for women’s rights and reproductive health education.

“I admit that I was being too expressive in the heat of the interview hence my assertions. I will reiterate that abortion is not a thing I stand for and I should not be seen in that light and I admit to all mistakes made. In addition, I’m currently working with gender-based organisations and NGOs to provide sensitization, education about abortion and other societal issues prone to the girl child. I want to use this medium to thank my fans, friends and family for their constant love and support, I do not intend to let you down” she added.

This is the upshot of the controversy that arose as a result of her repeated public pronouncements on the subject. Phyna had always been upfront about having two abortions in her life, but she went a step further during her chat with Jideonwo.

Phyna ended up trending this week for sticking to her words and even going so far as to suggest that women who take contraceptive pills have had abortions as well.

Furthermore, due of her repeated accusations, she got into a fight with fellow BBNaija alumnus Princess. She has received a lot of flak as a result of her words, and she has now come to apologize.
