- Despite successfully completing the marathon in the early hours of Monday, November 27, images surfaced showing her in a hospital setting with visibly bruised hands.
Subair Enitan, the industrious student from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) who embarked on a handwashing marathon to set a new Guinness World Record, refuted reports suggesting she “landed” in a hospital.
In a heartfelt video shared across the social media platforms, Enitan extended her appreciation to the school, supporters, and sponsors, emphatically clarifying that she did not end up in the hospital despite the challenges of her wash-a-thon attempt.
Her words;
“First of all, I’m sure you can see I’m very much okay. So to the people trending saying I landed in the hospital. I didn’t land in the hospital and these are my hands. I am better.
“I’ve been in my house with family members, my team members. I’ve been sleeping. I woke up this evening to take pictures. I have been very fine. Just dey play o. Nothing is wrong with me.”

Enitan, a Department of Linguistics and African Languages student, began the attempt on November 24 at the Sub Car Park inside the school campus.
She surpassed her initial plan of 50 hours by washing for 58 hours. The Guinness World Record is yet to confirm Enitan’s record-breaking attempt.
Before the attempt, Eniola had expressed optimism that she would finish strong as the title holder of the longest hand-washing marathon.
It is believed that the student notified the prestigious British reference book of her intentions in June this year.
Enitan joined the growing list of Nigerians who have attempted to set new world records since the beginning of 2023.
