Taye Currency debunks report he collapsed during performance in London

Popular Nigerian Fuji musician Taye Akande Adebisi, also known as Taye Currency, has debunked a report that he was rushed to a hospital in London after collapsing during a live performance.

Earlier today, social media reports claimed the musician slumped during the performance and was rushed to a hospital in the United Kingdom.

But in a telephone conversation with Street Journal on Wednesday, March 20, Taye Currency debunked the report, asserting that he is in good health and the reports are entirely false. He said:

“I am hale and hearty. Ignore the news.”

The musician’s media aide Tope Eluyefa also dismissed the claim while speaking with Daily Post on Wednesday.

Eluyefa, in a telephone conversation, said he called the musician immediately after he saw the online reports and it was revealed that nothing of such happened to him. He added that the Fuji musician is at home. He said:

“It is not true. I called him this morning. We spoke around 8:30 am.

“Ask them where he slumped. All his performances are recorded live. He is at home now.”

The Ibadan-born fuji singer is presently in the UK for live performances.

Taye Currency began his career at 17, alongside his late twin brother and now deceased manager, Rahmon Akilapa, when they founded the “Currency Band.”

He was appointed as the Culture Ambassador during Governor Seyi Makinde’s first term for actively participating in the governor’s campaign.

His son, Yusuf Adebisi, won a seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly, representing Ibadan South-West Constituency 1, earning Taye Currency the esteemed title of “Baba Honourable.”
