Nigerian fast-rising singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, aka Spyro has urged his colleagues to relax because being a celebrity is a privilege, not a birthright.

In a post shared on his Instagram page, the gospel singer said being a celebrity is only by the grace of God and that this should not make any star like himself feel like they have to be ‘worshipped’ even when they are being unkind to their fellow human being.

While advocating for his colleagues to show kindness, Spyro mentioned that his life took a different turn when he witnessed the late Sound Sultan help someone many years ago.

He remembered how the late singer chased after a thief who stole a person’s phone at a party. Spyro said that despite not knowing the phone owner personally, Sound Sultan acted swiftly by giving the thief a hot chase. In Spyro’s words:

“Being a celebrity is a privilege and an opportunity not anyone’s birthright… It doesn’t make us different from anyone else, we’ve only found grace and it’s not for us to isolate ourselves and turn ourselves to God ,constantly expecting to be worshipped and praised while being unkind to our fellow human.”

“Why not be human.
Why not show some little kindness… It will go a long way. I do the little I do today because a man called “SOUNDSULTAN” chose to be kind,I saw him show kindness when he didn’t have to.

You actions as a celebrity have ripple effects on people so be careful, you can kill millions of destinies just by moving wrong and yet you can give life by doing right.
WHICH ONE E GO BE 😊.”

“I once saw soundsultan chasing after a thief that stole someones phone at a party in trying to help someone he doesn’t even know …like proper chasing o(he ran after the guy like Usain Bolt 😂, that for me out of the many things I saw him do was a moment of truth. IT CHANGED ME.
He is gone now but his legacy lives on.

A LITTLE KINDNESS WILL GO A LONG WAY. My message is most especially to the young and up coming celebrities pls NO GAIN IN HOSTILITY and also remember Same God that gives can take.
#StandBySomeone#StandByYou .”
