Afrobeats artist Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, better known as Ayra Starr, has opened up about her present living situation, noting that she still lives with her family even in the wake of her rising fame and financial success.

In an interview with Coco Jones for Rolling Stone’s “Musicians on Musicians issue“, Ayra Starr discussed how her achievements have not distanced her from those closest to her.

Ayra Starr emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relationships with loved ones, even in the midst of her bustling career.

She shared that her family and friends remain a vital part of her life, and she actively seeks their input on various aspects of her life, including her fashion choices.

When I go back home [Nigeria], I still live with my family. My brothers are making noise playing video games. I still involve my friends in my life. We have a group chat where I solicit their opinions on what I wear. I thank God for my friends and family. Although, sometimes, it gets overwhelming and I have to disappear,” she said.

Ayra Starr also opened up on her love life, stating that she has very high standards for dating.

Ayra Starr acknowledged that At just 22, her expectations for relationships are quite elevated, making it challenging for potential partners to meet those criteria.

I’m so happy I wasn’t really dating before I started music. I didn’t really know what I was missing. So now that I waited this long to date people, I have very high standards. If it’s gonna be hard to meet it, it’s gonna be bye-bye. But also, I don’t have time for myself, talk less of a boy,” she said.
